Oh I get you. Cos I already have blardy offshoots off the new stems which are getting out of control, and I can see that all the fruit will form on little side shoots from the main stem(s), from what has formed this year.
Good thing about chopping off the sideshoots cos I only have a small passageway between fruit and the chicken run wire the other side! I want to be able to keep it under some kind of control.

Sactly MM, leaving the off-shoots on would mean loosing another 10ft of the garden width Now sorting out how to dispatch blackberry plants......... So far on the list for blackberry plants are: PandJ - airshow? Eryri - post Rinky Dink - post Britchick - b4 airshow/or airshow JohnP - visit My Dad - visit Bunty - airshow?

Mine hasn't produced any fruit as yet, but I need to get my finger out as it has grown several shoots and I have a plan! I have a very weak metal arch that I bought from LIDL a couple of years ago for 8€ and I plan to weave willow all around it to make it strong enough to support the thornless blackberry

Yours will settle in truly next year LK, she was only young and tiny when I posted her. BUT am not sure about the rose arch...... she'll be a little hard to handle I think but then again would love to see the effect. You may find that it is she who supports your trellis
