4stix, you have a style all of your own and I love you for that. I do not, however, wish to take the love to the next level....

LOL I'm a bit concerned, because the two that are really going great guns with 3 metre long stems for next year (and still growing) are in the same size/width space that I have the other THREE growing in. It's gonna be a nightmare with crisscross canes going all over the place.

I've picked about 8, but some of them are deformed so I'm just chucking them to the chickens. Not sweet like yours either. I wonder if it is the soil difference?

Mine are horrid. Pippy and sour. Also a lot of them are shrivelling up before they ripen/open up fully. (The sour ones will be fine for jelly, only I won't get anywhere near enough, as so few are turning into proper fruit). Meanwhile next year's canes are getting to gargantuan proportions. Two of them have invaded the raspberry patch nearby and I fear I will not be able to even get in through the chicken run gate next year!

I wonder if your comment about the soil difference is right MM?
I must have picked at least 5kg now and they are huge, tasty and juicy. I wonder if a good application of horse merk on yours might help?
