Not sure, Elkay ... looks a bit like a young Liquid Amber tree, but I'm by no means sure.

Could it be a Fig?? we have one and the leaves look the same. No, it's not a fig (I have a couple of fig trees). There are a couple that look as though they may have self seeded as the garden has been neglected for a couple of years. We don't want to clear anything that could be really nice! These look sort of Mallowy or Hibiscussy - but with a long straight stem rather like a Hollyhock, but the leaves are really big

Looks like a small fatsia (not sure of spelling) to me
they grow huge and give out lovely big seed heads
