There's still mileage in your post, sp. Like when do you start giving your lawn a higher cut (2" instead of 1") so as not to weaken it too much before the impending drought (!).
Interesting about the toms, Jackie. Guessing you must've walked dormant spores into the polytunnel from the soil outside. Higher temp (and humidity) in the poly? High chance for those outside later?
My courgettes aren't producing yet - but they are yellow ones, and so less vigorous than green.
Guessing your pointy cabbages are either Greyhound or Hispi - Hispi are said to be slug resistant aren't they?
Bolting lettuce? You must've had a lot of sun! I cover mine with 50% shade netting.
Can match your charlotte success. And yes they do taste lush....

Because we've been away quite a bit this spring and summer, the lawn has been very neglected...I wish it could be mown down to something like 4", but it's difficult to do that with 8" molehills....I did manage to cut a double swathe in the meadow this afternoon, so now I won't be attacked by 4' nettles when I go down to see to the geese and the goat...

Sadly I am potagerless currently boo hoo. Did have a very good one I did spy my home-grown Asparagus flowering freely (thanks BartyB) and growing strong in my ex-potager, will certainly lift that and move when appropriate. My little cottage has a little cottage flower garden, I've just taken photos so will put them together (gladly) and post. You bet folks ......... annon3 knows gardening inside out. Oh I do miss home-grown !

Err, sp you've misled us all into believing that you have a lawn, when in fact you have prairie, which is altogether a different can of marbles.... Please be aware that mowers exist which feature a strimmer head, and two big wheels, and as such make light work of long growth. Molehills are summarily sprayed over the prairie by the power of the rotating head (5.5hp or more).....
Ali you big me up too much. I'm still learning about horticulture, and about life in general. Show me someone who claims to know everything about anything and I'll show you a numpty....
Still, your replies are uplifting. Ali, please keep posting. You're too important not to.

The lawn is now down to about 2" - 3".....the tops of the molehills are flattened and I'll have another go at the lawn shortly. The meadow has never really existed other than as prairie, I try and keep a swathe cut (with the mower set to it's highest and a side eject fitted) to access the large barn where the outside animals live and round their water containers and the stand pipe.
Sadly I now only have one goat (originally three) and contrary to what is commonly thought they don't eat everything. In fact they are browsers rather than grazers.....Besides which I don't think Magnus could work his way through about half an acre of rough grazing on his own.....and I'm not interested in having more goats or any other outdoor animals...
