Even when I was doing my "O" levels in the 1960's one of the things we were taught was that countries such as Russia (then) and virtually any middle east country (now) needs a right bastard at the top of the pile to keep unrest under control. Look what happened when Saddam Hussein was removed, chaos. So what do we (the UK leadership) think we will do in Syria? Personally I don't think that they know.

Totally agree that they don't know. Cameron just wants to be seen as another thatcher or churchill even,to boost his own ego.

Have we learnt nothing from Iraq and Libya? Libya without Gaddafi is now a failed state. Removing Saddam Hussein from Iraq paved the way for ISIS. Honestly I just despair at the stupidity of our governments. Do they think ISIS all cosily live together in some Syrian town somewhere which they can bomb to smithereens, wham-bam job done? Plus the fact that this type of retaliation is just what ISIS wants. Hollande reacted in a knee jerk way, probably to try shore up his low ratings but the UK should really take it's time with a decision of this magnitude

what adds to the interest, for me, is that there is no money available for the basics, health, infrastructure, tax collection (evasion by big companies),but suddenly there will be money for bombs and aircraft. So where is all this money going to come from to pay for it.There never seems to be a cost break down for war.

Might as well start off a Chilcott enquiry as to why bombing Syria was a disaster now then it may have a chance of being made public in 10 years time....

Can't be bothered getting into this discussion, hard to find an answer, but governments forever have chosen to spend more money on the tools to kill someone rather than save their life.Until there is total tolerance and benevelence, the world will never be at peace.

I am not sure bombing Syria is the answer. The problem for me is that all those who oppose bombing don't seem to have a credible alternative. As for worzel gummage, time to stick him on a pole overlooking Dover with a little white flag in his hand. Does the UK seriously want this muppet for a potential leader? So glad to be in France

So glad to be in France Well the thing about Worzel Gummage is that the UK would only have him as a leader if that's what the people choose....(and also having the option to remove him). Not the situation everywhere I'm afraid

The other thing about Worzel is that he talks a lot of sense if you listen to what HE says rather than than the right wing media's interpretation of what he says....
