Thanks for the tip-off JP. I think I'll stay in all day...
Jostling with all those people and their bags of tat would leave me wishing I'd died yesterday!

I can't speak for the UK but I had to pop down to Leclerc this morning for a couple of things. It didn't seem any busier than a normal Saturday, a bit quieter if anything, I didn't even have to queue at the checkout.

It was busy yesterday afternoon, John (in Gourin); there were so many cars in the car park that some were parked outside the covered area. However, we didn't have to queue at the checkout either as most of the people were blocking the aisles catching up with long lost friends and distant cousins I don't even want to think about Tesco, Morrison's or Sainsbury's in Basingstoke.........

Waitrose in NE London fairly quiet this morning, probably busier tomorrow and Monday.
Interesting point Elkay about chatting in the aisles. Doesn't happen much here as people are too busy dashing about to stop. I also think in a place like Brittany people are more likely to bump into extended family because they seem to stay local all their lives, whereas in the UK families are more distant. Just an observation.

Not to mention the fact that no one gets their purse out until they have packed their shopping, why not have credit card/cheque book/loyalty card at the ready?
