Well I miss those big tents outside Super U with the boxes of oysters, the Father Christmases on the roofs of houses, the glacé fruits and the pretty table decorations. We only spent three Christmases in France, but fond memories!

I'd take some pictures for you Judith, but we only have a tiny Super U where we live, and they don't have the tents selling boxes of oysters!

I ventured out with Rinky today [Sunday] to Chateauroux to get stuff essential for Christmas [allegedly] and odds and bods of normal stuff.
Auchan was heaving!!!!
Successful day except for the bill that puckered up parts of me you don't want to know about!
However, our festive nosh now includes "Pigs in blankets" without the pigs - the sausages are replaced with prunes - thought we would give it a go but hope it doesn't make us go!
Got a block of cheddar, but as per usual it will never last as long as we like - I blame Rinky for scoffing the majority as it is well known I eat like a sparrow!
Apart from finding some Compte in decent wedges (they usually come is silly little wedges that does abouy 4 sandwiches (8 in my case for it is well known, I only eat like a sparrow.) We saw a hard cheese that looked remarkably like cheddar and begged a taste - Just the the right side of sharp. Turned out it is OSSAU IRATY FERMIER made in the Pyrenees, made from - get ready for it.....................................Ewe's milk! pricey so we didn't get too much. (Anyway, it is well known I eat like a sparrow)
Found a good size Turkey that didn't require a mortgage - Got to hand to Rinky, she has radar for a good price!
So looks like we are on stream for some tasty treats for Crimble - of course, I am easy satisfied for it is well known I eat like a sparrow!
Heartiest good wishes to all on the forum for the festive season from us and ours.

OK, food and wine shopping.
Saturday Morning, starting at 09:00 1 - Morrisons in and out in 20 mins no probbs 2 - Aldi in and out 20 mins fast as usual on the tills. 3 - Waitrose in and out 25 mins browsed a bit rather than just pick up of list.
Sunday morn 10:00 1 Tesco larger list shop 50 mins no busier than normal.
so hair cut and bit of baking, and a wander to pub tommorow all sorted. Lady S cooking tonight 'cos girls are coming home.
