Since the last debacle with my laptop (ie a frozen mouse) the guy who unfroze it changed me to firefox.
The mouse has startd playing up again and is so sensitive that it has a mind of its own opening pages I havent asked for in the middle of me doing something else. Also it changes the size of he page magnification (not like the maximise icon in the corner). Now the whole page for this website (and the devils website) have print so small i cannot read it. Nor can i seem to reverse it, so am using another laptop to write this.
On internet explorer there was an icon (like a cog) whereby i coud choose the maginification, but I cannot find it here - anyone any ideas please.
Whe I go next to UK I will be taking the thing back as it is new and under guarantee.

If you have webpages opening on there own you have a problem. Do you have an anti virus on your pc? Have you run a scan on sensitive?
mouse problem can also be caused by a coruption of files, scan will find it. Also you have settings for the sensitivity of the mouse and clavier, you could change them.
I also now use chrome...........

Is this an actual mouse or the mouse pad? I use a wireless mouse which I've replaced twice because of the left hand button sticking, which could cause the pages to open if it's stuck in the down or active position. Did he change you over to Linux Bisdu? Anti virus and the need to scan files isn't as much of a concern if he has...Linux isn't incorruptable but it's a darn sight harder than Windows....

Mouse pad - it has been trouble from the get-go. - I have looked at the settings and tried to adjust them with no improvement.
The problem is frequent but intermittent - it happens when i move the mousepad (i am not heavy handed) and any of the following happens - 1. it switches to an other (open) screen 2 It brings up a page I haven't seen before 3 It drags open the bars down the side (ie the ones with sertings etc on)
Sometimes I play on freecell and this is usually, but not always, when it is worse
Pete, we put Linux on oh's laptop to see if I liked it - not made a decision yet - I am a dinosaur.
Em the new laptop was installed ith McAfee (I bought it - not a preinstalled) The computer man I took it to thought it was causing some of my other previous problems - he thought the laptop was not powerful enough and this was making it run very very slow, so he took off McAfee and installed Malwarebytes and it certainly has improved in that respect
The computer is only 3 month old - it was a surprise gift from my son when my last laptop developed a rolling screen. It is unfortunate because a. I don't have the receipt and am a little embarassed to tell James it's driving me totally mad and 2 it was prchased in the UK.
However we are going over next week so i will bite the bullet and take it with me.

OK, I understand about Linux...
I'm sticking my head above the parapet and preparing to get it blown off but......have you cleaned the mouse pad? Might be worth trying a slightly damp cloth with a tiny bit of washing up liquid on just in case there's some residue causing problems. It does sound like over sensitivity though or the left hand button is partially engaged intermittently.....not an easy problem to prove or indeed solve.....could be a short under the pad somewhere.

just a suggestion why not turn of touch pad and use a mouse until you can resolve the problem
