Where are you, I could get the data off your hard drive if you really need it. Drop me a line if you need any assistance.

Thanks for the offer Raw, but basically I have just lost my favorite porn sites etc, I can soon find them again, lets continue to build up this knowledge base, it’s looking good.

"Do you think it’s a dry joint" One of the two lappys Sal dropped in for me to look at had that problem and it turns out 99% of all of that make/model died for that reason and replacing the motherboard is the only cure! Not that you would because it is guaranteed to do it again! Really does depend on the model

The geezer down the computer shop reckons that if I P2P an English copy of W7p I can use my product key, and it will work. I think Microsoft will pick up on it with its `”genuine advantage tool”, but I suppose its worth a try. Only another 16 hours till the P2P is done. Any thoughts?

No chance Lif. You could upgrade your version of 7 online to the top spec one where you will then be able to run in ANY language. That will cost alot though to go from OEM to ultimate BB

As you can see I have had my old Advent 7094 puter in bits today (tricky blighters laptops aren’t they ) I was hoping to find the power in socket duff, but it was just dandy. I touched up all the joints anyway in case one of them was dry, and banged the thing back together somewhat pessimistically. Learning along the way that strip cables on keyboards don’t just shove in, ya gota click the dofer-watsit out on them to get it in. Any road up, my pessimism was fully justified, the thing is still as dead as Bernard Manning. And well, it might be knackered, but by heck, its clean inside now.
