I refuse to even think about Christmas before 1st December. The barrage of advertising and shops full of gifts from October in the UK used to make me sick of it before it arrived.
I shall use the first 3 weeks of December to buy my gifts, send my cards and get in the mood to enjoy the day. Much nicer over here, perhaps a little too quiet, but for me still supremely preferrable to the 3 month commercial free for all over there.

I usually start September, October, it's to spread the cost......... This year every thing isn't done yet but half done. If they are going to the UK use recorded delivery at the start of december to arrive before christmas........ I have only ever once gone shopping on Christmas eve, I was 7 months pregnant with my first, was pushed a round and almost ended up on the floor in WH Smiths!!!! It was because my stupid ex had promised his daughter a certain video for christmas and had not got it, he couldn't get it because he was working then going to works christmas party. He rolled in completely drunk at 11pm sat on her present threw up every where and went to bed in clothes covered in sick!! It should have rung alarm bells but you know young and stupid spring to mind.......

Well done Tinks - not cheating at all - for me shopping is almost my worst nightmare (after having to sort out my computer) so I also do most of it on line - so easy and you don't end up buying additional rubbishy impulse buys or getting pushed about like poor Em. Not started mine yet though.

We don't buy each other presents any more, not because we're bah humbug, but because the stuff we need, we usually buy when we need it, not usually at xmas. we treat daughter at christmas, but dont go mad. always get hold of terrys choc oranges & a box of roses though. we used to buy for everyone when we were in the UK, but now just send cards (& flowers to mums.) my two brothers have never been good for sending stuff, and as one hasn't been speaking to me for a number of years now, it's no great loss ;-) used to go away skiing at xmas, can't beat it for atmosphere, but haven't been for last 2 years, will have to work on next year.... (need to get out of cooking dinner!)
