Isn't Wanadoo part of Orange? Is there any point in ringing Orange's English helpline and asking if they could send a new password to your gmail account?

Or you could try logging in from your old computer (Does it log you in to the Orange home page?) and hover your mouse pointer over your user name and you should get a box which allows you to change your password. Like this? (I don't use the mail account so it's still in my late wifes name) Attachment Deleted

Never seen a page like that - my account is very old - however, ringing them sounds like a great idea - does anyone have the number of the English helpline please

Try 09 69 36 39 00
Think you initially get a message in French....then try 'press 1 for tech support'....

Well the good news is that I got through with no waiting at all - have previously waited for up to 40 minutes for orange. The bad news is that they can't help - the chap spent ages looking for a solution but the account was set up when we were at our last address. Since then the line has been allocated to the new owners and new passwords etc. set up, with no records kept of mine.

I must confess to being a little confused (something that happens more often now that I'm in my sixties). Your email address, broadband account etc has nothing to do with where your physical telephone line is located. You pay for a service and that service transfers to your new address and new phone number.
Do you use a Wanadoo interface (program) to access your emails, similar to Outlook Express? As I mentioned earlier Wanadoo was taken over by Orange. When you sign up to Orange broadband you get a cd with their browser and email program and I'm wondering if you installed something similar from Wanadoo. There isn't any compunction to install this, in fact I think it made a good drinks coaster for a while. I don't use the Orange email address, relying on mail.com. Wasn't your account changed over to Orange and your mail also?

I don't understand it either - he tells me the account is and has been defunct since the new people took over, but I have used - and continue to use this email account on my old laptop. My problem is that the old laptop has screen problems - hence the new one - so it will not last much longer. I think it will be easier to open a new email account elsewhere and message everyone I know with an address change - only thing is I know I will forget someone. Getting a new computer should be a joy but its just a nightmare - nothing works like it used to(and is worse) - I think i'm just a closet luddite

Who do you pay for your broadband now, Orange? If so there should be an email address of the type *****@orange connected with your account. I agree it is easier to change to a web based mail address, there are loads out there (though personally I'd avoid Hotmail as they seem vunerable to being hi-jacked).
I use two computers, this laptop running Linux Mint and my netbook with Windows 8.1 (which mainly gets used for Skype). To an extent Linux Mint looks and runs much like an older version of Windows, so a Luddite should feel at home....
