We will be fitting water wings to the car and aquaplaning to Brittany on our first house hunting trip on Wednesday. I don't think we will have a lot of spare time, this time but for any possible gaps in the schedule where we get chance for sight seeing, but mainly for future trips any recommendations for must see things and places?

Welcome to the forum and good luck house hunting ,we made the mistake of house hunting and visiting places of interest and by the time we had found the house we had seen most of the places worth a look and now regret it very few are worth a second look in our opinion

Places we really like and worth a looking at (amongst 100's of others) are these although there are loads;- countryside - Huelgoat - a fascinating and magical place but dry weather is recomended town - Dinan - glorious architecture, pretty canal and nice places for lunch sea - (which one to chose?) St Pol de Leon near Roscoff - pretty town and a fairly non commercial and glorious coastline These are our favourites - others will suggest more with, I'm sure, equal merit

WE are staying at an IBIS ST Breuic. Oh dear Newport, maybe Brittany is not for you then? WE have lived in Limousin for 10 years and get out and about a lot, but still could not say I have seen everywhere, mainly because we keep revisiting our favourite bits. Thanks for suggestions, I am making a list

Living in Normandy, it's quite infrequent that I get to Brittany and then rarely for pleasure but to meet people off the plane at Dinard. However, I always find Dinard (the town) very charming and St.Malo really pretty if a little commercial. I visited Cancale last year and was impressed with that too. Spent a week in Quiberon about 5 years ago, which is a lovely seaside resort...in fact it reminded me a little of Scarborough...

Now this is purely a personal opinion, but I find St Brieuc to be probably the place I like least, and it would not particularly attract me to stay in Brittany if it were based on here. We go there quite often for "big" shopping - white goods etc but seldom for pleasure - unless its the to go to the chinese.

St Brieuc is quite central to some lovely places, St brieuc is not one of them but good for shopping. I would defo second Dinan it's our favourite place. In the other direction you've got Binic, St Quay Portrieux both lovely little coastal towns. Dinard is pretty and there are some lovely places to eat.

OK, yes I can see St Breuic is going to be a big town and I guess will be a bit like me visiting Limoges. Functional stuff at the prefecture RSI offices and tedious tasks! lol It will be interesting to visit and see which city I prefer! Thanks for the ideas. I do think it is funny when you live somewhere as you do get used to places. THere are some places here that I take for granted as I pass through or visit regularly and then when we have visitors they say, wow why did you not bring us here before.
