Hi All
Just to let you know went to the friendly Maire this pm, lovely secretary at Le Saint phoned someone and we are reliably informed that apparently they are still calculating for our area which could be good or extremely bad news, in any event we should have the demand within the next two weeks or so.
Many thanks to all who replied.

Thought I'd let you know the sad & sorry outcome......... As of today still hadn't received the bill so back to the Imports in Gourin, nice man checked his computer and, with the usual gallic shrug, told us there was nothing appearing on the screen relating to us/address. So back to the Marie, lovely Secretary made a phone call, got a bit lost in the rapid one sided discussion but essentially what has happened is that the bill, for reasons unknown, was sent to England to an address we left 9 years ago when we came here to live. No one knows why this has happened but clearly its our fault because we are now going to be fined for not paying the bill that we never got. Deep joy.

Yes, I have read (and heard) about cheques not being cashed, can only assume that some system somewhere is in chaos. For the past 8 years there has never been a problem, tax habitation, income tax & Fonciere have all arrived without mishap. I'm going to have a go at disputing the fine with the help of the lovely Secretary at the Marie. Will let you know how we get on. Meanwhile might be worth your while confirming that they have actually got your cheque just in case some computer somewhere is 'fine' happy this year.

I elected to pay mine by prelevement beginning next January. However I still had to pay this years in full, which I managed to do online by a bank transfer (though I still got a form back which I had to take in to the bank with an RIB). Anyway, this years payment has only recently been taken from my bank, quite a few weeks afterwards....

Southpork go to the impot in Gourin armed with the last few years bills addressed to your French address and ask them why this year's bill was sent to UK. I think you have an excellent case but I think the advice is pay the fine and argue the toss afterwards.

Today we received the bill (gulp), stamped "copy" and dated yesterday soooooo back again to lovely secretary who, very kindly made another telephone call and after 5 minutes rapid discussion she informed us that we would not have to pay the fine. She very kindly scribed a letter which we were given to attach to our bill when we go to pay it tomorrow. So off to the imports tomorrow am. Will keep you posted. Meanwhile going to buy big box of chocs for lovely secretary.
