Several will have heard me babbling on about having rats in the hen pen. Well the other day I was down there and this littleish grey brown head popped out of the 'rat hole' but it wasn't as big as a rat. They visit the hen pen to eat the hen food. We've put out springy rat trap, large rat humane trap and another humane trap and all they've done is wander in, eat the food in the traps and bog off again. Phah. Yesterday afternoon I got out another humane cagey trap thingy, smaller than the large rat one we have, put some hen food in a bowl in the trap and just left it overnight in the hen pen. RESULT - this morning there were 4 - yes FOUR huge mice in the trap all squeezed together, there wasn't room for 5 !! The Fli has just taken them up to the village to let them loose by the Mairie Well he's due up for election this year and we don't think he'll be voted back in. So thats now 4 HUGE mice and 6 little normal mice caught so far !

Very humane Ali, I hope your Mairie is far away ............. having read how these blighters breed - my mouse despatcher is much closer to hand and can in no way keep up with their activities

One was injured so we've had to help it on it's way with a little 'pop'. Having had a closer look I beleive these are Voles. But Voles can have 5 - 10 litters each litter with 5 - 10 young. We have to look after our hens and also they're living under and in the garage so I'm afraid they have to go. 3 are now living comfortably in the village which is about 2kms away. We don't have a mouse despatcher like yours Wibbly
