...to Choose the Jews
Anti-semitism seems to be on the increase. Tombs in the Jewish section of graveyards, the doors of synagogues, daubed with swastikas. Tombstones broken. Various comments by "Front Nationale" supporters during the recent campaign for the regional elections. Some of this seems to stem from the search for an easy target. If you identify some grouping as an enemy, you can rally the silly sheep together in common cause. There is lots of legislation, quangos such at "HALDE", all in place to tone down anti-islamic manifestations, so, Hey Ho, let's go back to our previous target, we'll make a better score!
It's easy to identify the "shaved heads, camo trousers and pit-bull" brigade, and laugh them down as a bunch of knuckle-draggers. What is more insidious, and invidious, is the lumping in of Jews with Israelis, in France or in Britain, to make our European Jews the scapegoats for Israeli oppression of Palestinians, the building of the famous wall, the blockading of Gaza, and the stealing of land.
It should be recognised that many Israelis disagree with their government's position, and that much Israeli policy is dictated by a minority, mostly the ultra-orthodox right.
So let's go back to that little rhyme at the top of this thread:
"How Odd of God To Choose the Jews But not as odd As those who choose A Jewish God, But spurn the Jews

There is no God, someone made him up! Religion is an irrational belief system. So says the Chops.

an emotional crutch for the unthinking masses The problem with that view is that there are some theologians with huge IQ’s who go along with it. It’s logical to dismiss religion as *we don’t know, so God made everything* but the truth is ‘we’ don’t know the answers, we don’t even know the questions. Space is seemingly infinite, there are more stars (suns) then there are grains of sand on earth, they have planets whizzing around them etc etc It’s beyond human comprehension IMOP

Godderel or is it doggerel
How odd of god, The silly sod, to create stinging creatures What made him think without a blink we’d enjoy their pointed features
How odd of god the silly sod, to create all men equal when we all know the end of the show will start another sequel
How odd of god the silly sod to allow the warring nations to kill and maim they’re all the same it really tries my patience
How odd of god the silly sod to make me in his likeness it makes me weep when going to sleep wearing this old nightdress

Like I say it’s beyond comprehension, but there must be a ‘grand order’ of things or all those countless billions of suns etc would crash into one another, but they don’t.
