Having been born in Bradford in the 40's and having seen the influx of immigrants from the Indian subcontinent to do jobs in the textile industry that the brits didn't want to do and pay they woudn't work for, I have mixed views on the subject. Because of religious and social differences there was little or no integration and consequently these immigrants tended to stick together in large enclaves. That great leveller, the british pub, was off limits to the Muslims. Of course when along came unemployment the brit's were peeved to see the industrious Pakistanis and Indians working hard , sending money home ,whilst they were drawing the dole. The second generation immigrants now have broader accents than I have and Bradford is the only home they know. The BNP now seem to be trying to get these people back to their ethnic roots, when most of them are there already.Hitler tried and failed with the Jews. I dont think the BNP will succeed either

Yeah as a person who's roots are from around the Birmingham area I agree with what Tobyjug posted. So I just cannot see what the BNP want.

Yeah as a person who's roots are from around the Birmingham area I agree with what Tobyjug posted. So I just cannot see what the BNP want. Well they want out of the EU, and capital punishment reinstated. An end to uncontrolled numbers of immigrants. They want the armed forces out of Afghanistan and Iraq. They want law and order back on the streets. They want an end to political correctness and positive discrimination. Or so they say.

not sure about capital punishment, but surely most people are wanting the other stuff?

not sure about capital punishment, but surely most people are wanting the other stuff? But no government will give it to them, hence the rise of the BNP

I share TJ's mixed feelings on this. A multi racial society in terms of ethnic origin? Why not. A multicultural society, with newcomers claiming the right to change, distort, modify the indigenous life-style, even claiming the right to some alien rule of law? NO, NEVER!
This has already been said, one way or another, and often quoted/misquoted, but I'll say it again in my own words. When someone goes from their country of origin to live in Britain, they are looking for something they don't have 'back home', be it economic advantage, personal liberty, (almost) equal opportunity, in some cases true asylum-seeking (I say this because most claiming 'political asylum' are in no way, personally, at risk from their regime, they just want more food on the table, better housing, etc.)
So, if they want what Britain has to offer, then why do some immediately set about trying to change it? If some want the first language in their children's schools to be Pushtu, or Zulu, or Arabic, there are countries that can accommodate them. If they want their lives to be regulated by Sharia law, there are many countries which will cheerfully behead them, cut off their hands, stone to death their unfaithful wives, etc. If they want to build minarets reaching towards heaven, there are countries that build places of worship that incorporate this (redundant) feature.
If immigrants arrive in Britain determined to learn English, become part of the British way of life (and moslems are free to drink orange juice in their local pub!), then much of the raison d'etre of the BNP will disappear, and their neo-fascist party will once again drift into obscurity, just a few die-hard loonies with a sort of ersatz nostalgia for the days of the Third Reich.
If on the other hand they are not happy with their British life-style, they have another freedom: the freedom to leave!
