Those of you who lived in the west country may remember the case of Ginette Tate who at the age of 13 disappeared from Aylesbere near Exeter in 1978. The person who was suspected of murdering her was Robert Black. He was convicted some 25 years ago of murdering 4 other young girls and was given a life sentence. This piece of sub-human scum died in prison yesterday and now the police say that they were within two weeks of charging him with Ginette's murder. My first instinct tells me that if there was any justice this bas*ard should have been hanged 25 years ago, but I also feel that this is a convenient way for the police to wrap up a 38 year old case. Don't get me wrong, I am not anti-police, I served as a special constable in the Devon and Cornwall constabulary for 10 years and I remember the case but to just be on the point of a charge as he dies after 38 years? ? I just feel this is just too coincidental .

I haven't logged in here for ages but when I saw your post I felt I had to make a response. I remember so well the case of Ginette Tate, we were living in Devon at the time and I followed all the news about the investigations in to her disappearance as it was all over the local news at the time. My feelings are that the police did have new evidence that could have led to that bas*tard being charged with her murder, unfortunately the CPS have mysterious ways of working. Interesting that you spell her name as I always remember it being spelt all those years ago John. Anyway, we are now living back in Devon and I have looked here and found some information. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance_of_Genette_Tate
