A little bit of light relief goes a looooooong way to those of us worrying about seeds. No SM's here, just a scruffy adorable dog for whom I can do no wrong even if I can't make anything grow.

I'm not very green fingered either but it doesn't help I'm not acutally supposed to touch things in the garden due to an allergy to mould lol!

Will tarragon do okay outside? Do I need to put the coriander in the polytunnel? Both Tarragon and Coriander totally ok for outside. The Coriander will bolt to seed quickly where-ever it's grown. Top tip for Coriander (well my top tip) is to grow a good few plants and harvest the leaves as soon as they are large enough, flat freeze them on a tray, then put into freezer bag and store in freezer. Then you get all year round coriander. If you leave it to bolt and flower the leaves will become small and tasteless. I've grown poppies from seed in trays and transplanted and they've been great, I think the key is to give them good root space so they won't notice they got moved....

Belated thanks for the tips, especially about freezing the coriander, assuming, of course, that I ever manage to grow any. Must have planted about 100 poppies (love them) only two little green shoots appearing, no morning glories at all. Sowed around 10/03, how long does germination usually take? Have just split the begonias in accordance with the instructions in the book, will be well p****d off if I've slaughtered them too. Got a lovely and extremely healthy crop of dandelions coming up all over the lawn........
What have I missed? Why the lone ranger look Ali?

Lol Southy - lone-ranger was last pic taken when I had normal eyes, fell off and onto ladder, black eye since... mmmm .... nother story.... Temperature mon bel homme, temperature. Well and light of course. Conditions et al. Don't panic - once everything is right everything comes at once and you find yourself pricking out and transplanting at a huge rate of knots. Just dont over-water. I've only just sown Sweet Peas last week, and only just sown huge pumpkins today. I'd prob do poppys and coriander this week..... Nature must take its course.... have patience

Just to let you know Ali nature did indeed take its course and delivered up two very healthy nettles, these were the two little green shoots that I thought were poppies and upon which I lavished every care. Tomorrow my debit card & I are partying at the garden centre again, its become our annual gig now. Anyone know where I can buy California poppies?

Nope, Mother nature and appear to have no common language, saving the sweet nothings until the next bank statement arrives, got a bit carried away at the garden centre and Mr SP's troubled brow may need much soothing.
On the bright side - got some (actually lots) of beautiful plants but no poppies.
