Oh knowledgeable ones, would any of you have any idea why my Glary Utilities file shredder will not go beyond 42% I've done it 3 times now, each time leaving it with nothing else running, the last time overnight, with even the screensaver switched off, but nothing doing I'm trying to it because I've deleted a large volume of backup & I want to remove the maximum amount evidence possible. I've never had a problem with this on any other pc, btw lappy running Visa Basique Thanks peeps

Hi Annie
I have also never had a problem with Glary's file shredder getting stuck.
Are you shredding anything odd or just normal office type documents?
Try re-starting your PC and then running the shredder once it is all up and running. If any part of the PC is trying to reference the file you wish to shred (even just trying to index it) then that may stop the process.
Another option would be to delete any files in the normal way and then use Glary to shred any free space on the drive. This option has the added benefit of shredding old deleted files ANYWHERE and not just the ones you point at.
One more good thing to try once in a while is the 'undelete function' of Glary (or even another program) to find out how good a job has been done.
Can you update you version of Glary or even re-install it?
Last thought, Can you start the PC in safe-mode (tap the F8 key repeatedly during the black screen phase of boot up) and then run the shredder from there?
Only the minimum required services will be running on your PC during a session in safe-mode and that may enable it to complete it's task.

Agree with BB. I use a commercial shredder for business and any file usage will stop the shred: even the .bak info file will interfere if it starts to try to reindex. I always delete then overwrite the free space many times.
