Can anything go in at this time of year? we have a poly tunnel although it's taken a bit of a battering and needs a little tlc. That being said does any one know where to buy the clips to put the plastic back on at a reasonble price please? all the ones I have found have been ridiculously expensive! I feel as though I'd like to get going in the garden but i have no idea what to do

In next few weeks if not icy you can plant broad bean seeds outside.

Ali mentions having got cabbages started, simson, and there's quite a bit of cool (frost hardy) stuff you could sow in the poly now.
But I won't say any more, lest I'm accused of hogging the gardening threads.

I have planted very early seed potatoes (amandine) in my polytunnel and I have some small lettuce plants coming along nicely that I grew from seed in the autumn. I will sow some early carrots in there soon, alongside the spring onions I sowed a few months ago that are growing slowly Outside I am currently preparing the soil by weeding some areas, spreading manure and digging where necessary. I will be sowing broad beans in early February

Since you mention potatoes, simson, which is a timely thing to do, mine are starting to sprout in an outbuilding. and I wish they'd hang on a bit...
So I'll plant them when the sprouts are thick and about 1/2" long, and so I can't leave them any longer....
Which means March or April. If you have to buy seed potato I'd do so as soon as you can, and store them as cool as you can, without freezing, cos the shops keep 'em too warm which causes 'em to shoot too early....

Trees, you can plant them now, as many as you like, more trees than you can shake a stick at.....
