What kind of apples do you use instead of Bramleys for apple pie or crumble? Although a lot of desserts/pastries over here appear to involve apple cannot see anything which resembles a cooking apple.

Oooh heck. I've lost the labels from both of our trees. One is a green apple and slightly sharper and the other a red apple and more like an eating apple. But I use both or either and add less sugar to the sweeter one. ............... wonder where I put the labels, will go for a look later........

I have a Boskoop apple tree for cookers - but, sadly, it has only produced ONE apple this year!

I use Granny Smiths as well for pies and crumbles - they work fine.
