GW tonight and there was a particular tomato highlighted - Red Pear Meaty, great for salads, on its own and for puree's (which is what I tend to do with them). Here's a link to a descrip: www.seedsofitaly.com/product/31Would be interested to hear your plans for the 2013 season (Had gotta be better than 2012!)

Well, Ali .... now that I have a proper potting shed, and WWS has promised to make me a sturdy wooden frame for my temporary greenhouse (which will be well anchored this time), my plans are this.
1) to grow a wide variety of veg ... but not very much of any one thing except potatoes.
2) to start everything off early in the greenhouse, which I will line with with bubble wrap this time to keep eveything a little bit warmer.
3) Zone the veg plot more sensibly so that stuff which needs the sunshine and light will get it, and stuff which needs more shade will be catered for too
4) Make proper walk ways, so that I can get to everything more easily.
I have been collecting nettles and putting them in (cheapo) dustbins which are full of water to make a liquid fertiliser. WWS has fitted taps to the bottom of the bins, and we have placed them up on a makeshift shelf so that I can get the watering can under them. So hopefully I will be able to keep everything well fed next season.
My tomatoes have been brilliant this year. I don't know the names of them (they didn't have any identifying cards in the pots when I bought them as babies) so I will save some of the seeds and hope they grow next year. Any tips please?
That's as far as I have got with my planning so far..,. will be hunting through various sites over the winter for seeds, or maybe just buy what I need from the markets over here.

No idea at present other than the soil needs enriching going by results this year. Mickael wants to put in winter veg but for me soil too poor, the veg you can grow in any thing came up ok, some not at all, others never really gave what I would call a crop!

I saw GW last night too, I'd like some of those tomato seeds. I am hoping to have time to sow some oats tomorrow as a soil improver for 2013. I also have green manure seeds but I think it is a bit late to sow them now, I shall save them for next year.
This year has been very disappointing - I even had to do some stuff outside the moon gardening calendar but WATCH THIS SPACE - I am now back with the rhythms of the moon and will be advising you (nagging) again very soon on the subject!

I thought it was strange cos that Red Pear is not like the cherry tom called Red Pear, which isn't worth growing! (nor yellow pear). I can't bear to think about next year at this time of year, all I can say is that I am going to do a lot less in the veg patch and have more flowers in there!
