I've had nothing come up in the garden at all from the HV seeds, too wet, nothing come up earlier in the year in the GH so I'd just about chucked the towel in.
However, decided one more try and bought some new seed the other day, sowed in the GH and lo and behold I have 1 Haricot showing a root !
Is it too late to grow them do you think? I've never started them off in July before ever!

No, not too late, Ali - I often carry on sowing now and we eat them into September and October. Have run out of room now, though

Mine have finally taken off, they were amongst the seeds that I had to chit because nothing wanted to germinate, then they sat there doing nothing because of the rotten potting compost. I'm glad all the haricots and courgettes and stuff are later this year cos if they'd starting producing the same time as the mange touts we'd have been in serious trouble! Mangey toots coming out me ears! ;D (Ali I thought you'd chitted beans months ago? )

Yus, I did chit some ages ago indoors too, but nothing came of them at all.
Surely couldn't have been the bean seeds coz they've always lasted me a couple of seasons?
I have courgettes and bbeans coming out of ears so like you am probably pleased with no HVs yet.
Good news that these late ones will be ok - ta LK

Seeds should be OK for several years - they sell them in those big boxes which annoys me cos I'm not French so I don't sow 100 bleedy plants! 3 is usually enough but this year I've got about 10 cos of all the germination problems and things germinating at different times! I often do two sowings but I've always found the first sowing to be the most productive for some reason.
