Hi All Can someone please give me the name of the product i need to buy in France to stop potato blight Keith Bouillie bordelaise I don't use this. I plant very early , so I can harvest before blight hits, and I spray with an infusion of Mares tails. This dos'n't "cure" blight, it's a sort of tonic of "strengthener" to help the plants survive an attack.

Hadn't even thought of blight til I read your post this morning Keith. It's probably just the right conditions for it - wet and mild. Had dreadful blight here one year on the tatties, ended up cutting them down to ground to save the produce. I'm the same as Troll, not keen on using Bordeaux mix - very interested in the Mares Tails though - what dilution do you use Troll? www.sherriff-amenity.com/technical.asp?newsid=3

100 stems simmered in 5 l of water for 20 mins. Strain. dilute 1:4 and spray beforeblight hits. 2 or 3 doses are best.

I do admit to using a Bordeaux mix on my tomatoes, one spray usually halts it, then cut off any on the new growth. Nothing kills blight it just protects the plant from infection, the plants do harden up slightly. Keep potatoes as far away from tomatoes as possible and give them a spray if conditions are damp and you get blight most years. I have little info here on my blog mr-tomato-king.blogspot.fr/search/label/Blight

Has anyone had there potatoes infested with Colorado Beetle and if so, were you able to get rid of them? Mine are OK, but my friend in a nearby village has been infested with them, and hasn't a clue as to how to get clear of them.

Had a bad case of the Collys here a few years ago. The only thing I found that worked was to flip the beetles off into a jar and close the lid! They don't jump around so they're easy to get.
Was funny because my neighbour was infested too and we'd both be in our potagers doing the same thing.
I'm not keen on using any pesticides, just think that inevitably (spl?) the chems go into the food plus I now let the hens on the veggie patch during the winter so want to keep it as clean from chems as poss.

Waiting for it to be dry enough to spray the spuds and toms with Bordeaux Mix! I'd never have a ripe tomato if I didn't spray.

I pick off the beetles and crush them. I look out for them everyday so I've never had a bad infestation as I get in quick.
