Not sure this has been done before ?? my old memory fails me at times as does my capacity to use the search function correctly
I've been reading through various forums (and Ai) and noticed how many posts appear to recommend English owned restaurants or MSG filled cheap chinese buffet or simply folks hunting for a curry fix -
Altho I'm sure the English owned restos are good, I rarely see others mentioned either a good report or bad one. I'm sure we all pop out for a bite to eat from time to time whether that be a local creperie or gastro place - So what about a thread that contains some recommendations for places to eat (all types, prices and styles)
Here goes, please add a brief review of any others you would recommend (or NOT)
Ty Minn - Small unassuming creperie in Gourin - just down the road from LeClerc - doesn't look much from the outside, but step inside and all is clean and tidy and always seems to be very busy at lunchtimes with the locals - good range of freshly cooked crepes. Open lunchtimes and occasional early evenings.
La Rotonde - Small restaurant in Carhaix just behind the Cathedral - booking advisable - small family owned and run restaurant at first floor level. Well presented menu with a good selection of wines and food (both meat and fish). The wife of the family will serve you, be warned a shouty/pointy english approach will not be appreciated but very funny to watch her in action from afar when it happens Good english is spoken if you aren't rude. Budget approx 25 euro per head (ish)
La Coulee Douce - Quimperle - Located in town centre just up the road from the car park - entry is via a bridge over the river - Very good menu choice, well presented food and excellent service, if you want a table over-looking the river then book early, menu in French but very easy to understand and english is spoken. Local fresh produce sourced and used. Budget approx 25/30 euro per head.
La Croix D'Hor in Le Faouet - Hotel and restaurant in town square by car park / market. Food is generally very good clean and tidy with a good selection of daily specials and a menu for all tastes and budgets. A good place to eat but a criticsm would be that it lacks atmosphere being quite a large open plan room when busy it can be noisy and if quiet lacks something. Budget 20/25 euro per head
