Fabulous Barty B!!! I have never tried that tinned-or bottled stuff, but I can imagine the slime-- All I wanted was to purchase some sparagus-non in brico-whatever!! My last taste of this nectar was 2 weeks ago-some frozen-not to be sniffed at,and now a great black -hole

Well, to be honest, it was fine. I just used it as is with a salad tonight and taste was good, bit soggy but that was expected. About as limp as bartys ladder, or should that be bladder?

I've always got bottled white asparagus in the cupboard and love it! Can't remember when I last had it fresh. Ordered some as a starter in a French restaurant, in May, thinking it was the season for it - but it was out of a jar which did annoy me. Now got lots of little pink willies sticking up out of the soil!

Mine are pink like Barty's - now there are 6 shoots from 6 plants (rest not done anything yet), all about 4" tall, and I'm glad to see that one of the weaker plants which I thought might have died, has sent up a tiny, spindly, green shoot. Just like the original seedlings, so this plant is obviously going to be a year behind the other ones. Now I need to weed it. It's being well fertilised by my cat. Ugh!
