Found 1.5kg of Desiree (lovely roastys) today in Brico, those along with regular Charlottes (good all rounder) and *Pink Fur Apple Potatoes (wibbly wobbly tatties wonderful in salads all year round) (*saved from last year if the mice havent had them) are chitting and ready to go in mid-March.
Would love to know your favourite varieties to grow and why...

They had Delice in our local Bricomarche today, I grew Bintje a couple of years ago, and also Mona Lisa.
Why do you select Bintje and Delice? Are they special for something or store longer?
Asking coz now's the time to buy the seed pots really and interested in what others select to grow and why.

Belle de Fontenay for my new potatoes because they taste lovely - so do Ratte but they are a bit earthier, so overall I prefer the B de F.
Delice are nice too but I'm not growing any 2nd earlies this year.
Have also bought Desiree but could only get a 3kg bag (smallest) so I probably won't be planting all of them as I've got about 60!
I've tried many varieties over the years but just sticking with B de F and Desiree from now on.

I like bintje because they store well and make lovely roast, mash and chips. Charlotte are lovely salad potatoes but also make nice chips too (but not so soft in the middle as the bintje once fried).
I like delice cos they grow SO BIG without going hollow in the middle so they can be relied on for jacket spuds. Bintje make lovely jackets too but I often do an extra one in case one is not good in the middle (which sometimes happens with the huge ones)

We grew potatoes for the first time last year & chose Charlotte as it is the name of our eldest granddaughter, simples! This year we thought about chosing another variety so looked on t'internet - big mistake - UK site, French shop = none of the names are the same! So picked Charlotte again!!! Mrs FG x

You just can't go wrong with Charlottes I think, they just do what they should and are scrummy as new pots too !

Thought I would have a go with some Ratte's this year, lovely flavour, but your posts have made me wonder if I shouldn't try one or two of the ones you have suggested. ....
Last year I was lucky enough to be able to get some King Edwards and suchlike from the UK, so this will be my first attempt with French potatoes.
