Do you have problems with the salt getting damp in your salt celler.
Put a cocktail stick in the hole, the stick soaks up the moisture and lets it evaporate to the air, simply remove the stick when using the salt.

What an excellent idea, Panj. We now use the little salt containers you can buy in the supermarkets with the sprung lid. We've given up on the sea salt grinders as they never seem to last very long. So we cook with the sea salt, which we keep in one of those pottery containers and we sprinkle table salt if required.

I put a few grains of rice in my salt cellar - keeps the salt dry but will try cocktail stick

I just keep mine in the fridge and never have any problems with damp salt.

In the fridge ?? Pray tell more Span, never heard of that one b4 Tis true lol-- Used to put salt in small ziplock bags when we in the Caribbean--and pop them in the chest frezzer untill needed-- they came out good -- if left out --used to go solid with the high humidity--

But if you pull anything cold out of fridge into warmer room temperature condensation forms

Doesn't seem to work that way - my salt always pours freely. Thank about what happens to cheese placed in a fridge, it dries up - maybe salt does a smilar thing?
