Yes, in French there is no differentiation between courgettes and marrows - grand et petit peut ĂȘtre.

I don't call the big ones marrows either. If you want marrows you buy seed for marrows - presumably a variety of courgette that is supposed to be eaten big. www.marshalls-seeds.co.uk/marrow-seeds-cid343.htmlAnyway if you are my neighbour she calls winter squash (a kind of pumpkin) courgettes ...... however if you dare to call a citrouille (halloween pumpkin) a potiron (French word for pumpkin) she will jump down your throat and tell you NON it's not the same! So whereas we have only 2 words for Pumpkin/winter squash they have three, citrouille, potiron and courge - and it's all interchangeable and totally dependant on the person as to which word they use e.g. I grow butternut pumpkins, not squash.

Mine don't like 'em, and they are not as good as the round ones for target practice.... I'm very vigilant with picking mine!
