Just 3 trays of Marguerite seeds done today.
Hands-up, I admit, I have bought a post each of crinkly parsley, lemon thyme and normal thyme this afternoon ! Ouch !!

;DGot parsley, thyme, chives coriander and basil growing, lettuces, chilis and capsicums ready to go,tomatoes getting bigger on the window sill. All sounds good but the reality is that most will fall by the wayside due to neglect or too much love!! The roads are paved with good intentions as they say!!

Didn't do anything other than hold post for OH to bash in for new raspberry bed, and marked out where (he had ;D) to dig a hole for 2 of the new blackberries. Have got all the posts in and decided where b.berries are going. Ali I have 4 metres in front of the chook run where 2 are going in, and a 3.5 metre run in the front of the old raspberry bed where the biggest one is going in alone. Sods law - every post went in like a knife into cheese this time - yet last year when we had to replace our rustic hazel posts with real bought posts we spent hours trying to find a rock free place so we could get them in around the raspberries! It also rained very heavily around 8.30pm so the water butts were either filling up nicely or overflowing crazily. Ground might be a bit soggy today so I'm going to start pruning the peaches.

My broad beans are just appearing. Also my tomato seedlings in the propagator after just 5 days! Spend the afternoon sowing flower seeds and finally pricking out those asparagus seedlings. I've got tons from just one pot so think I will have to chuck the 2nd potful! Off to google just how many asparagus plants 2 people need.........

Hah! BC I'm envious, think will grow thyme & parsley next year (or maybe give it a go soon when have space to. Beautiful scent, thinking of plating thyme down the pathways. 21 metres of lettuce in the potager this morning, sewn from seed inside and now outside cloched. Spinach, B beans are looking strong out there and the pickled onions are just coming up MmeMH is it the right time of year to prune peach? Won't you loose the fruit??

It's starting to get a bit late now, the time is when it starts to flower. That way you can prune back but keep some flower buds (which = fruit). Mine are so loaded I have to thin out several times over the course of the summer/autumn anyway! Well there are only one or two trees which are OK, all the others like the ones in my orchard are naff (they have bad scab) and I only keep the trees because they look pretty in spring. Lots of fruit trees are not pruned in the winter due to disease setting in such as plums, which I prune after they have fruited. As for thyme, I've just weedkilled about a 1000 self seeded in my driveway..... ;D

All sorts of things are popping out of the ground now, thanks to all that mild sunny weather - parsnips and broad beans which I sowed on the 12/3 and then peas and mange tout which I only sowed on 24/3! I wish I had had time to sow more veg seed! Oh well on with the peach and forsythia pruning today then I must get some spring onions seeds sown and more spuds in.
