Hi all, whilst shopping in Lidl today I bought a pkt of flowers called Liatris they look like lovely pinky/purple bottle brushes.. anybody else tried them? 1.99 euros for a pkt of 5

Yep! I got some seeds off ebay last year. They're perrenials, and came up well in the greenhouse, they're planted out, so should flower this year. Fingers crossed! Mine were white, and I got them to stand tall against foxgloves. Think they need plenty of warmth to germinate from seed, did you buy them as a 'root' plant? Saw them being sold as 'root'/bulb plants in intermarché. Pretty plants, so good luck!

That's the one's, aren't they lovely? They flower from the top downwards, unlike normal plants. Very pretty though. Can't wait for mine to flower.

Thank you thats the plant. It says on the box to plant out in the garden as soon as you have bought it. In this weather??? Would you?

I'd be inclined to wait, it's very wet atm. You could always plant them in compost in a pot, and nuture them in a sheltered spot, and then plant them out in April when the weather's a bit better.
