No apologies for posting this topic in this thread- wholly irrelevant though it is - there is no admin on here to maintain discipline, so something messed-up is what you get, admin, you have only yourselves to blame, admin, for your negligence. And besides, no-one's going to read it anyway.....
The Chinese are arriving in flocks to bag our pheasants. They travel by helicopter, and are shunted about in Range-Rovers, staying in Stately Homes, dressed in trendy garb, and dangerously point guns, sometimes at the sky...
With enormous amounts of care provided by the game-keepers, beaters and local hired help, our Chinese visitors kill thousands of birds. Few of these birds are eaten. They're burned.... It all seems wasteful to me.
There's irony in the fact that pheasants come from China (I think). But serious money is being made out of the new wealthy Chinese, some of it reaching the ordinary Joe. I just wish that more of that money could be spent on getting those dead pheasants to the needy, cos the needy are the casualties of the powerful Chinese economy, which has taken away jobs in the UK. I don't begrudge the Chinese their success.
