It seems an utter nonsense to me that we can heat up the soil artificially to make seeds germinate, and plants to grow, when otherwise they wouldn't...
The idea that we can warm a cold, wet mass with a trickle of electricity is mindless. But not when we limit that trickle of electricity to a wafer-thin layer of sand on a propagation bench, in a greenhouse or outside...
So seed-sowing has already begun for me, and soon, very soon, days will get longer and things will grow. I'm ahead of the game cos I'm in a hurry. Now is a dead time, but it don't mean that you must wait. Get ahead before you get behind....

Am gutted that the point(s) I make mean nothing to you.....
I've got seed germination now because of the soil-warming cable. Have you? Are you "too busy" to give a flying fiddlesticks? Are you waddling, in an over-weight way towards something else? Would you rather watch sh*te on telly? I think that you would....
I'd still rather alert you to something else, voice in the Wilderness though I am........

Yes,littlemouse....
'Little or no gardening next (this) year? You have time to re-consider. And little time before you die... Your decision to do little could be the worst decision you've ever made...
However, if you go ahead disconnected with all things green, perhaps you'll post in some other thread, or even start a DIY thread, Heaven knows that there's a demand for all things DIY, but I may feel unable to contribute to it...

Do you really think that someone will reply to a DIY thread? I won't regret not planting this year, because by 2020 the other house's garden will have been prepared, he says with a wry smile ,ready for a new planting regime.

.... err two points emerge from your post, littlemouse (notice how I quote your name, whoever you are, 'cos truly it's personal)...
About whether anyone will reply to a DIY thread I don't give a f***ck.. It's not to solicit replies that I post, but to make a connection to one, single, human being, whether or not they reply... To 'connect' with a single, human being is good enough for me, whether or not they reply.....
That you appear to have more than one property leads me to think of those who don't have a single one. I've also got two properties, so I would not want to suggest that I'm holier than thou....
Be the best that you can be, and accept that owning two properties is not the absolute best, cos you could easily part with one, and give the proceeds to charity, but I, like you, draw a line there....
