.... is Christmas, and the orgy of gluttony it seems to imply..
But also fewer than 4 weeks away is the shortest day, when days start to get longer again (at the rate of about 15mins a week, an hour per month) and it don't seem so bad no more. Hope springs eternal.
I'm looking forward to the lengthening days. Not so much to Christmas. Which you? If you still have some empathy with the original meaning of Christmas you win both ways, but I have to admit that it's lost on me forever.
Still, the prospect of lengthening days leaves me panting with excitement. I'll settle for that.

Ha! I've scoffed as well as anyone, on the stupid super-abundance of sh*te food, Tesco's 'Finest' this, 'Free-range' that, 'quality' the other, loads of it, enough to make you sick....
Once again I'm stung by the meaningless of it, dressed up as something 'happy'. It's literally made me want to throw up - what's 'happy' about that?......
Coinciding with all of which is the change in daylength, the lengthening days, the new season, surely this is more meaningful?
So when, after over-indulgence, I drop an almighty log in the toilet, to cleanse myself of something utterly meaningless and wrong, I look forward to something else, which don't feel meaningless to me, don't feel wrong, but how fings are supposed to be......

Try not to browbeat yourself for more then ten months of next year, because you know you will do it all again next time around.
