All power to you for posting, littlemouse....
Today I picked the last of my own tomatoes, after last night's frost on the South Coast of England. Ripen? Chutney make? Nope! Into the compost heap. They're worth more to me next season that way....

I won't be planting much,if anything, next year. Having bought a house much of my time will be spent on that project.I suppose I will have to post in another section.

Err, I'm left, littlemouse, to understand that you've changed houses, and that the change signals for you a change in priorities.....
Stretching before you is an orgy of DIY, doing-up, titivating and making things look nice....
I say turn back now. Banish from your mind meaningless consumer fad satisfaction. Live in total squalor. Till the soil, stare at the skies, kiss The Omnipotence. You've already done it. Felt the power that moves you. Never stray from this. Never change course. You just know that it makes sense....

...woz touched to learn, littlemouse, that you see your new abode as a 'final resting place'. It tells me that you're aware of your mortality (my dog, by his demeanour tells me the same, every day), and that life's too short to spend on trifles....
But yet you're still in the process of 'doing up' your final resting place. You're gonna die soon, do you want to spend a millisecond 'doing up' anything??
Pleased in a small way am I at the news that you still intend to tend ornamentals, inasmuch as this will keep you connected with the Natural World. But nothing will connect you more than the growing of vegetables, I say. If you choose, as I do, to see the growing of vegetables as the difference between sustaining life and starving to death, suddenly the idea of 'doing up' anything becomes a laughable and irrational waste of life....
Billions of people around the world think as I do, and always have. I take my cue from them. It works for me, and could for you...
Whatever, do what moves you, before you die.
