I had to swerve to avoid the mangled corpse, the gut-strewn mess of a young deer lying in the road. Road-kill.
Squashed hedgehogs and badgers I see every day. We, in our cars, f*ck everything, including ourselves, every day...
The car, a symbol of our progress, far advanced from the horse and cart, f*cks us up, and everything else. We're in a hurry to nowhere.
Go for a hard Brexit. Plunge into economic ruin. Get back to the horse and cart. Get back to basics. And learn to co-exist. Then know contentment.

....feel the throb. See the road stretching before you, like a runway.... Put your foot down.... Bend ahead, chevron alert - take it fast.... take a racing line, nudging towards the centre of the road.... drop down a gear or two and engine-brake into that bend, before powering out of it. God! What a thrill! It's even better when you've got the soft-top down, cos then you look cool too!
Oops! Didn't see you, deer, badger, hedgehog, until it was too late. Sorry mate....

Does having the top down, have an effect on impact?

Yes, super-cool soft-tops have an effect on impacts - they make the driver heady with their coolness, head-up-their-arse, distracted by their narcissism, not thinking of anything else - and so impacting what would otherwise not be impacted - IMO!
I often drive a Transit. I stick to speed limits, I slow down when it says 'Slow' on the road, or when I see a warning sign of deer - and I've never (knowingly) run anything over, but I've had to slow down even more or swerve to avoid animals and birds. Is there a connection, do you think, between my driving style and no known kills after 40 years of driving?
I think that there is...

More likely, you are driving so slowly the animals have time on there side.
