The headlines in today's Times is an account of more sexual shenanigins in Haiti, by Oxfam workers....
Why the nation should be interested in what an aid worker gets up to, allegedly, while on deployment abroad, I don't know. What I do know is that the nation is interested, otherwise such I story would not make the headlines...
I only read half the story, and stopped when I realised that it was based on allegations and heresay. It wasn't even based on fact. No admission of misbehaviour by an aid worker. No video evidence of an aid worker bonking a local, during the day, when he should've been doing something more useful. How many readers, I wonder, stopped reading half-way through? How many readers gulped down every sleazy word?
Sleaze stories like this is what the people want. Stories of war-torn Syria are depressing by comparison, and so kept off the headlines....
ps: The two male robins in my garden are still chums. Yesterday I saw one of them feed the other with a grub, beak to beak. In a shed nest-building is going on. They may be setting up home together. They may be full-on batty boys. This may be of interest to you. Much more than war-torn Syria....
