The breaking news is that the first, the very first of my sown seed has broken through the compost surface.
This news may not be of interest to you. It may fill you with total indifference. Please know, be that as it may, this news almost makes my willy go hard.
Each to their own. And, I've even managed to work sex into the post. I try my best.

---- overnight dozens of seeds have now broken through the surface. Is God great or what?!
I'm not going to say what effect this latest news has on my willy. It would be too much information to say so, and I'm mindful of your sensibilities....

Deep joy! Fattening now are the buds on a little kiwi plant. It was given to me last year by a customer, who brought it in expressly by way of thanks for the help that I'd given him on his previous visit. He was a young Italian student, with limited English, and I think that he appreciated the care with which I spoke, so that he may understand. As a non-native speaker of French in France I appreciate people making a small allowance for me, so I know how the young Italian felt...
Or he could've been gay, and was buttering me up. Heaven knows why a young Italian could value an old git like me, but it does happen...
Anyway, the kiwi's swelling buds is news, and that a young Italian may fancy me is also news....

...and I'm happy to report that a pot of Arum italicum Pictum, stood outside, and which was flattened by the recent frosts, has now sprung back.
This is more news. The plant sports triangular, deeply-marbled leaves and goes on to set berries in Summer, when it then dies back. Its value is therefore in its early season flush, when not much else is moving. All of this may also be news to you.
Perhaps not news to you is that with changing consumer fads plants like this are old-hat and not trendy. That they continue to exist, and gush forth in Spring, is, you'll agree, still good news.

Bummer! Not up and away are some seeds I've sown into pure garden compost. Not inclined to buy seed-sowing compost I use pure garden compost instead, at least for my own play-level production....
Sat on windowsills in the house these sowings get the heat from radiators. Heat from radiators, in combination with wet garden compost, encourage disease in the compost (damping off), which kill the seeds as they germinate, or shortly after they've emerged. Mould growing on the surface of the compost is a dead give-away...
For years I've got away with it. Now I'm gonna turn the heating off. Outside temperatures are about 9C at the moment. I'll just put another pullover on....
