With the autumn rains recharging the soil see how growth resurges - the proliferation of weeds we can all see.
I've got purple-sprouting broccoli plants - battered by slugs, pigeons and whitefly - valiantly thrusting to the sky, the going is good......
Leeks, bought wholesale from France for nuppence as transplants, stand erect, effusive and as happy as Larry....
You lot in France, everyone a dabbler in growing your own, would do well, if you haven't already, to plan conscientiously for this autumn resurgence - my purple sprouting and leeks were planned several weeks ago - cos then you wouldn't have time to read this, your life would be full and vibrant, you'd be living the dream, the Real Dream.....
ps: Am thrilled to learn that littlemouse is already planning production for next season, and getting on with the preparations now, cos life's too short not to. Am thrilled for littlemouse, not me... The Autumn Resurgence is thrilling too. The opportunity is there, every year, laid on a plate, if only we have the eyes to see.....

The big problem at the moment is lack of rain, its been several months since any significant precipitation. Luckily the stream that fills the well hasn’t dried up yet but there a distinct slowdown in flow.

Not sure, littlemouse, in what way the absence of rain is a problem, if your horizon is next season. True, you won't see an Autumn Resurgence this year, but that's not your horizon...

I still have leeks and brussels growing, so it isn’t all planning.

,,,aahhh, now I understand...
You see, if we confine our postings to one-liners misunderstandings will arise.. Guilty though I am of too much wordiness, in an age of emoticons, I still believe that it's better to say more, at the risk of too much wordiness...
Besides, too much wordiness gives others plenty to read, and as we have seen, plenty to read is what people want....
ps: Delighted to learn that you still have crops in the ground, even if the absence of rain does not provide Shock & Awe, cos you're still living The Real Dream, IMO....
ps: My capsicums continue to flourish, at this late stage in the season. Perpetual Spinach transplants, which went in, barely more than seedlings, a few weeks ago have shrugged off slug attacks and are now going for it. Shock & Awe is what I feel....

We had a frost last night, here on the South Coast of England....
Luckily I'd caught the weather forecast - forecasts are good for 3 days ahead and no more - so my chilli plants were protected....
Chilli plants are perennials, although usually grown as annuals, and some of mine I've had for two years...
Still they're producing, still flowering - if possibly they can, they will - Shock & Awe, it's always there, for those with the eyes to see...
ps. Over-winter your chilli plants now - I cut half of the topgrowth off mine - so that you don't have to start all over again next season....
pps: I say all of this out of Love, Love for you, my fellow man (and wimmin, if I have to).....
