The growth point on one of my greenhouse tomato plants has flopped. No amount of watering will revive it.
Brown lesions on another plant make me think 'Blight'.
On yet another plant the fruit shows tiny black marks, and will not ripen.
I'm now declaring a crop failure, and await with good grace the inevitable famine - my children will starve this winter - and there is no God.
Or I might just nip down to Mr Tesco's and buy a shedload for nuppence, in which case my children will not starve, and there is a God....
ps: Just checked and found that some of my capsicums have limp leaves as well, despite being well-watered. I expect now to return from Kos and find a total wipe-out of my greenhouse crops.
First I'll shed a tiny tear, then take a small whiskey to make me feel better, then pat the dog, then give thanks that the 'Blight' had carried off my crops, instead of me, Jake or my fictitious children, then I'll nip to Mr Tesco's, firm in my conviction that there is, indeed, a God.

Well I've returned from Kos and my crops have survived. Some die-back attributable to the Blight but not enough to stop the plants from producing.
In their ceaseless struggle for survival they've fought off malicious disease. Am uplifted by it. Am rich beyond my wildest dreams because of it. Once again Good has triumphed over Evil. There is a God.
