You don't have to like football to like the scoreline.

You don't have to like football to like the scoreline. ...unless of course you are Scottish....

It's a good point that you make, sonnetpete....
But true football fans, which the Scottish are, will concede that they lost to a better team, on the day, that they missed their own chances and that the scoreline reflects these things. and so, by extension. all's fair in love, war and football...
Go forth Ye Scots, good-bye Mr Strachan, glory to you another day....

True football fans?? Like when they beat England at Wembley in the late 70's, invaded the pitch and wrecked the goalposts? They may agree all is indeed fair in love and war, but when it comes to England v Scotland.....well that's another matter...

I will not, sonnetpete, for one second, condone mindless vandalism, but in the case you cite it wasn't mindless....
Overjoyed by a very rare victory the Scottish fans sought to express their feelings. Some of us might've written an eulogy on the game, but for them, not blessed with the advantages that we've had, smashing stuff up was all they could come up with...
Over-exuberance, high jinks, call it what you will, their passion for the game was no less.....
