Half of London is owned by this gentleman, or rather by his descendents...
Following the Norman Conquest of 1066 the county of Cheshire (yes, the whole bloody county) was given to the Grosvenors. For services rendered. With a name like that what else could they be but French? And to the victors, the spoils....
Let's not get into sentimentality about the dispossessed English Peasantry. They were shafted then and they still are. Living in the modern-day equivalents of mudhuts, stacked on top of each other, their former land is grazed by deer, and over which pheasants flutter....
If we hadn't cocked up at Hastings life would be different today. There'd be plenty of land available for everyone, as in France, property prices would be low, as in France, and you could choose to lead a quiet life off the land, instead of taking your place in the file of commuter traffic each day, so as to work in an office or factory, to earn enough to pay for the car that you need to get to work, and leaving you not much over for anything else...
So half of England is French-owned. We even buy their energy. It's time you lot over there started land-grabbing, as we've done in history, to even things up....
