Ha! Even in a thread about shock-jocking your attempts at invective are puny. It's schoolboy stuff. fiddlesticks'in try harder, for you and for everyone else..
Compare your post with sabjac's - who, exactly is the 'pillock' (phew! very rude word) ? ps: If you want to try your hand at winding-up do it with panache. Learn from me.

Thank you my dear Annon for marking me as a 'motivating person' ooooo I do like that feeling, deep down south. Understand your sentiments, let loose, get contravershall, attract more members and more spirit. But what spirit? I set this forum up in Feb 2010 when a previous forum degenerated so much that it was a pure acid attack on its own members and it imploded. Cannot believe that was 6 years ago ! I have a couple of points in mind (forgive me if I ramble - am tired) My point one - moderation - is that there is only me that 'moderates' this forum (not that it needs moderating apart from blocking kitchens!). AngloInfo, as you well know, is a commercial enterprise, this forum is free. I'm up at 5am every day to go to work and don't get back til 3pm daily. I can't moderate at the same time. Equally I'm asleep by 9pm nightly and the after 9ers are the ones often than attract moderation. I'm not around. We can't pay anyone to moderate coz we don't have any income from this to do so. If any of our members are willing to moderate this forum please shout. To open the floodgates would need moderation. To not moderate would cause an implosion, hurt and anger. My point two - involvement - the rise of Facebook, for example, over the past few years has lead, in my belief, to forums such as this becoming attended less (poor wording - tired). The only thing here that we all have in common is an interest in France. In my humble opinion that 'in common' is too loose, too wide. It is not a mind-blowing grabbing interest, it's just life. Equally the 'mass-exodus' from the UK to move to France was over and dusted by 2008, people no longer need advice or support, they've either moved back to the Uk or elsewhere or have been settled in France for sometime and know the ropes. Ai have become more of a sell or buy marketplace, they've focussed on advertising, be they private buying and selling or business advertising. In my opinion Ai is no longer 'a forum' they have moved with the changes. So what can a forum such as this offer? A final (for this eve) note - my personal pleasures - I have had so much pleasure in seeing members here get to know one another to the extent that they have become actual friends away from the forum. Sabjacs mention of 'old gang' (although they are really not that old!) is a prime example. Sabjacs 'old gang' have become friends of Sabjac and Mr Sabjac - a circle of local friends has been built - the fact that they no longer contribute here is a shame but the main thing is that there is a strong friendship going on over there. Anyone want to join me in the shower? It's bedtime said Zeberdeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

A lovely reflective post, Ali, and the only one that has anything to say on the points raised.
Agree entirely that practicalities and trends are discouraging. Let's curl up and die. Not since I was born have I curled up and died. Hence a gung-ho fight-back proposal for discussion. With no expectation that anyone would agree.
Glad that sabjac and others have made lasting friendships. I have no argument against that.
As to joining you in the shower - I would if I could....

It is sad that this site has lost a lot of it's core members. Maybe they have gone somewhere else, maybe they are too busy or maybe they were upset by some of the threads a while ago which degenerated to personal insults. I check in most days but when you see posts which are months old and just a small number of members visiting, it doesn't inspire.
I don't know what the answer is. I thought with a certain site committing hari-kari with it's appauling re-vamp we might see a rise in membership here but that doesn't appear to be the case.
I am sorry Annon but I find your posts a bit bizarre and you have a habit of throwing your toys out of the pram and disappearing when things don't go your way. As your name suggests this is at least your third re-incarnation. Sorry I don't have any answers but posting just to shock people into a reaction will only create a descent to angry and personal responses which will not help.

Anon 1 ii & iii - I have enjoyed several conversations with you in the past - however, on this thread, this is my slant - and only my comment. I like a good scrap as much as anyone and have tried in the past to play devils advocate on controversial threads just to keep them alive - in that respect I would be more than happy to pursue controversial topics. However my misgivings Anon, is that I am not prepared to be manipulated and I feel that this is your real agenda - "wind 'em up and see 'em go" - its a sport, and the phrase "too much time on ones hands" springs to mind - or if you prefer a more biblical type quote - "the devil makes work..... John P - my thoughts too I am sorry Annon but I find your posts a bit bizarre and you have a habit of throwing your toys out of the pram and disappearing when things don't go your way. As your name suggests this is at least your third re-incarnation.

As to joining you in the shower - I would if I could.... We do agree on lots of things Sir Annon. Equally with you in that I do not curl up and die either. HOWEVER Getting argumentative within a forum may not necessarily be the right thing to do. It may stimulate the after wine o'clocks into making comments. Where do you wish to see this forum ? What are your thoughts ? Moderating a forum is not that simples either. It takes somebody with a real insight and knowledge of all of the members traits, fears, weaknesses, strengths and abilities ; somebody who is interested in each and every one member. Somebody who can 'moderate' without being seen to do so. Watch, feel, listen and be balanced. BUT I am happy, very happy to have alongside me another moderator. Sonet has offered his services - I think Sonet is the right person. If we all agree then I am more than happy to provide Sonet with the tools and insight to take care of us all and with his agreement we could open the doors wider. Tomcat is a star. He publishes our photo's to the Facebook page and he has a hugely growing audience. TC spends time for us. Along with Wibble they have kept up the photo comp and it is brilliant. This forum is a team forum. That is why "Ali" has no 'admin' attached to name. I have always felt that this is run by us as members and not by one person. Right - I have to go to bed - up at 5am. I have 130 people for breakfast in the morning, there is an open bar for them tonight til 2am. There will be very fuzzy heads demain but they all need to eat and drink copious amounts of water and be back at conference by 9am. How amusing. I had 20 years of being their side of the fence across the world - now I have chosen to serve them - that bit of it I adore. Goodnight to all for now.

Errr,,, I can't be bothered to defend myself. The various negative comments say more about the commentators' insecurities than they do about me. I've posted widely on here in lots of different ways - you brand me in one way without conceding - your comments lack balance.
You're lucky to have had my contributions. It's often felt more like a chore than a pleasure to post. Which is why I've wandered off in the past. Bored with the listlessness, where is your joie de vivre? Not on here.
I first came on here wishing everyone well, whoever and whatever you are. I leave you in the same spirit. 'Weird pillock' that I am.
