I think that a lawn tractor is a serious bit of kit, bisdu, and, that they enable you to think and act as farmers do....
Whenever I'm in France I admire the way that farmers scurry about, sometimes long into the night, to beat the rain.
What a work ethic! Just to earn a living, not a small fortune. No cushy retirement for them. They keep it real. Really,
really real......

Agree with you annon3. If rain is forecast our 3 local farmers work like billy ho to get things done. Seen tractors pass our local bar at 23.00 and even seen them from our house at 02.00 harvesting.

Don't disagree about the farmers work ethic - they are going all night during the summer around here, but I'm talking about a domestic garden lawn tractor. OH is - as I type - trundling round the lawn with the lights on - and you cannot turn them off without turning off the engine - totally pointless.

Focussing tightly, then, on the point you make, bisdu, I'd say that the headlights are just another example of a consumer feature/benefit which doesn't fulfil a real need, but which is included in the price anyhow. Better off buying a full-size scythe, in the spirit of ' One man went to mow', and using it exclusively in broad daylight...

As an aside, bisdu, and with reference to your mentioning your Oh, could it be that Oh's are so called because they cause the other party to say Oh!, out of annoyance, despair, etc???
I speculate because I don't have an Oh, but I'm sure that I'd say Oh!!@@@** a lot if I did.....

Can only speak for myself Anon3 but this is certainly not the case for me. Perhaps you should get yourself an OH and report back

Could it be that you can see at dusk, or in the barn or garage when you are getting ready to put the lawn mower away. They do serve a purpose, we get an extra half hour of mowing because of the lights, AND are able to put it back where it goes in a building with no lights. They aren't just decorative. Just a thought.

Also, perhaps the lights are there so that you can see your OH heading speedily towards you Bisdu and you can avoid mortal danger ?
