I seem to remember that on the Imp a warning light was "shared" so you didn't know if the engine was overheating or if you had low oil pressure!

Oh dear, this really brought back memories, I took my test in one of those in 1967, amazingly I passed after just one lesson - had been riding a motorbike for some time though and had passed the test for that after having taken a police tuition course - happy days!

I passed my test in my instructor's car which was a Ford Anglia. I can't remember whether it was a 105E or a 107E( the one with the back window that sloped inwards) My car at the time was a 1953 Standard Eight, soon to become a not so standard eight

105E was the sloping window one... The one without an inward sloping window was a Capri I think....but not the 'flying hockey stick'....

I had an imp at university. There was always a problem with the accelerator cable; on one occasion the accelerator got stuck on full after I was overtaking on a windy road...couldn't stop the damned thing; but usually the problem was that the accelerator cable broke....lost count of the number of times I drove home having done a makeshift repair with one of my passengers shoelaces.

107E was a similar body as the 100E but with 4 doors and the anglia OHV engine instead of the side vale version. Model name was Prefect.
The first of the two tone anglia with side flash and roof colour matched was a 123E fitted with the 1200 engine.
The inward sloping window car larger than the Anglia was the Classic think it was 109E, the coupe was the first Capri, think 116E.

Drove down to our Scout annual camp in Snettisham yonks ago in my 105E. Whilst there I was parking in a car park when the attendant resplendent in black hat and brown lab coat told me where to park. I told him that the slot was too narrow but he insisted. I couldn't open the doors because as a 2 door car they were longer than usual! He said that I probably thought he was a fool to which I replied, no I know you are a fool!
