Just because you don't get an answer back straight away, doesn't mean we are not breathing or thinking. I was going to say scones are best eaten on the day, when they are homemade.

Your missing milk
I use Mary berry 9 oz SR Flour 1 rounded teaspoon Baking powder 1 1/2 oz butter 1 oz caster sugar 1 beaten egg made up to 4 fl oz with milk
Though as Sab says best eaten on the day made, I have been known to refresh with a couple of seconds in the microwave

I reckon that they'd freeze well ! Bravo to you for making scones ..... mmmmm ..... fresh strawberry jam and 'proper cream' idylicccccc. No we're not quite deadeddeedd yet, but we are 'in decline'. There's not that many polite and beautiful UK-ex-pats left in Brittany but those that are in Brittany have made a success of it and we're here Your comment made me think .......... I'm supposed to run this place (well I kinda made the site back in 2010 after the demise of another) and I was wearing L plates at the time! Crikes thats 5 years ago!!! Over the first few years I had enormous energy and the time to contribute, nowadays I work full time here in France and have found my time slipping by. Suffice to say, we are not anglo-info ( we have not the budget - aka this forum is brassic) but what you will find here is true, honest, polite feedback, and, true friendships. Our people are mega, barrrrr none. Happygirl - your posts are a breath of fresh air. Your support is here. Thank you for your posts past and posts to come - envigorating (Is that a word?)

Thanks for the recipe Pete,Hi Ali,thanks for the reply,i only make scones when i have fresh clotted cream en route,So,we had our first street/garden party here 2 weeks ago, what a great day,4 couples 2 widows 1 batchelor, live on this small road in a village,it was the idea of the batchelor to help intigrate,as i think he is lonely,(we've lived in this village 15 yrs)we were the only english couple,we had a meeting a week before to discuss food, drinks and cost,€ 20 per person, started at 1pm with canapes, bbq sausages, lamb chops, salad & new potatoes, supplied from neighbours gardens, home made cakes etc,at 3.30 homemade cider galore and calva, played games of skittle and Belat?i think, both of which we'd never seen played before,!dancing and singing to Foster & Allen was played till 7pm,when a whole lot of food was loaded onto the table to start again,we left satiated and a bit wobbly at 11-30,brilliant,we have all decided to hold it every year in each others garden.a few days later the batchelor, called and gave me €14 change, unbelievable.the cost was obviously kept down by the great kindness of the participants, farmer, gardeners,a lovely, lovely bunch.I think more peeps should try it,bye for now.
