just been in Italy - on the way back up to the house one night (about 10.30) we saw 2 bright lights the sky to the west (wsw) - they were very bright and much larger than stars - they were positioned at 8 and 2 (on a clock face) - we assumed they were satelites. Saw them again the next night and as we had the camera, we tried to photograph them - which proved harder than it sounds as the camera was playing up a bit. Each night we saw them but over the weeks their position changed round in relation to each other - ie within a week they were at 4 and 10. Over the 3 weeks they seemed to move northwards (ie by thursday they one of them was disappearing from sight behind a mountain. first 2 pics taken on ai 1600 iso f2.8 1/4 (happy), last photo taken on P 1600 iso f2.8 1/125 (vivid) - on panasonic lumix fz200)

The brightest was Venus the other was Jupiter. It was a rare alignment that made them, one night, appear as if they were one.
