Hi 'eileendover' - long time no hear - how are you?
Could you help me please? I'm not at all sure what the above wood is.
Eg: 50 x 100 CLS 4.6 long - is that 50mm x 100mm? 4.6 metres long? What is CLS? What is OSB?
I apologise for asking daft questions, but I'm looking for wood for a project here. Thanks in advance.

Not sure about CLS but OSB board is like chipboard with big chips in it! I used it as cladding on my timber frame house before putting the outside clin boards on, as well it can be used as a flooring base to go under parquet boards etc - lots of other uses as well but does not have a 'fine' finish like chipboard

This explains it I think LOL...
CLS
Canadian Lumber Standard. CLS is planed smooth, has radiused (rounded) corners, and is free of large knots at the edge of the wood. These features reduce the spread of fire in timber frame wall cavities and make it safer to handle.

Hi Ali, yes nice to hear from you again, thanks to sonnepete and meldrew for descriptions of OSB and CLS. Because the CLS has been finished the actual measurements are 38 x 89, but it is always described as 50 x 100 (don't ask me why!) Lots of people use OSB for flooring but mainly it is used in conjunction with CLS for the panels in timber frame houses.
