Didn't see the programme because of family visitors.
Gave up on sugar in 1968 when working for the Government. Unfortunately I signed the Official Secrets Act so cannot give the reasons why. By the way the OSA claim is true not a wind up! For the 42 years of our marriage we only have sugar in our house for visitors and bread making. I even cut back on the sugar when making bread.

We hardly use sugar, in fact we 'nick' the little sugar bags when we have a coffee in a cafe and keep them for 'guests' who take sugar...not really tight..it's just more practical... But we do use lots of local honey Yum Yum..!!!

We don't have UK TV in our house. But if you buy take away foods or convenience foods you have already consumed more sugar than is allowed a day. We don't use sugar in tea or coffee but I make my own cakes etc.Which is our downfall but one needs to have one vice

For last 3 years I have been diabetic type 2, I get a bollocking every time I see my doctor who is obsessed with weight for all his patients, he says he wants me to lose 15 kilos. I gave up alcohol, bread, pasta, rice, breakfast, lunches consist of soups, and in 6 months I lost 9kilos - great. Didn't change the diet but put it all back on within 18 months. Now, sod em! I have alcohol when I want it (every day!! ), I do watch what I eat in the way of having fresh food, I don't like processed stuff anyway and I do avoid bread at home as I find it too easy to eat a whole baguette at one sitting! . I have decided that almost everything I do is bad for me, so I just enjoy life as it comes, I have outlived my father by 15 years and my mother by 38 years. I could go tomorrow, but then again I may outlast my doctor!
