Whilst I fully support the right of free speech, Things seemed to have quietened down in North Korea for the moment and I must question the wisdom of Sony in producing a film that mocks a crazy, unstable, warmogering, unpedictable loonhead who needs no excuse to rave at the West. By all accounts the film is not even that good. To me it just seems rather irresponsible to rock the boat that has no ballast.

I think part of the problem is that most of us ordinary folk do not realise just how awful it must be to live in a country like North Korea. The leaders are no longer a joke. They have the ability to start Armageddon without the intelligence not to go down that path. I'm not saying kowtow to them, but this film is a complete joke.

Not sure I necessarily believe it was N Korea who did the Sony hacking in the first place
- quite possibly a be a kid somewhere in Cincinnati (or anywhere else) - or the CIA as an excuse to bring down the N Korean internet or...who knows who?
Not seen the film so can't speak of its merits or otherwise, but there's a lot of other films I would take exception to before a political spoof.

No one seems to be sure who hacked Sony but if it was N Korea, it was in retaliation for the making of this film which pokes fun at a dangerous unstable regime. My point is that in my opinion, it is stupid to deliberatly antagonise an unpredictable enemy for no apparent reason other than that you can. This film was always going to stir up trouble.

The first thing I thought of was publicity stun.It wouldn't be the first time that hollywood has sensationalised something to boost sales.
As for antagonising an unpredictable enemy, that would mean never making a film that upset anyone.I wonder if North Korea really is the big bad wolf that america says it is,were the same tactics not used to send troops into Iraq, what was the excuse oh yes weapons of mass destruction. It seems the west always has to have an enemy somewhere whether its Russians, Iraquis, Iranians, Libyians or Cubans to name but a few.

I am of course not suggesting that all contaversal films should not be released. In most cases you can weigh up the response of the person or persons you are likely to upset. However in the case of North Korea you are not dealing with a predictable situation, but with a regime controlled by a bunch of deluded insane dictators who will torture and murder their own people at the drop of a hat and have the means to inflict serious consequences on their many percieved enemies. For that reason, whilst they should not be treated with respect, some measure of caution would seem to me to be sensible.
